Industrial Visit 1 - KWS Saat

We are contributing to overcoming the challenges which arise from a growing world population and the rising demand for food which it entails by improving the performance of our plant varieties and continuously refining the quality of our seeds.

For almost 160 years KWS has been managed as a family oriented and independent company. In fiscal year 2014 / 2015, the KWS Group including its 65 subsidiaries and associated companies in more than 70 countries generated net sales of 986 million euros.

We use state-of-the-art plant breeding methods and technologies to continuously improve yields and resistances to diseases, pests, and abiotic stress.

KWS's core competence is crop breeding. Its annual expenses for research and development amount to 17 percent of the entire net sales. The expenditure on research and breeding has increased continuously over the past ten years. KWS invested 174 million euros in that area in fiscal year 2014 / 2015 and has about 1,800 employees worldwide working in research and development. As a result, KWS is able to provide farmers with more than 400 new, higher-yielding market approvals every year.

Industrial Visit 2 - KONE Academy

KONE is a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry. Driven by the urbanisation megatrend, the company provides industry-leading elevators, escalators, automatic building doors and integrated solutions to enhance the People Flow in and between buildings. The company is also a proven leader in technology and innovation. In 2015, KONE was included on the Forbes list of the 100 most innovative companies in the world for the fifth time in a row. One of KONE's groundbreaking innovations is the KONE UltraRopeTM, a new technology that enables elevator travel heights of one kilometre and thus buildings as the Jeddah Tower. KONE has close to 50,000 employees in over 60 countries.

The KONE Academy is the biggest training center in Europe in regard to elevator, escalator and automatic doors. KONE employees, customers, and authorities use the facility for technical and commercial trainings. It also serves as a showroom for all products and services of the company and is frequently used for activities such as congresses and customer events as well.

Industrial Visit 3 - STIEBEL ELTRON

STIEBEL ELTRON has been developing and manufacturing products at the highest technical level since 1924. Today the company is one of the leading manufacturers of home comforts and renewables technology.

Since 1924, the company's success has depended upon its level of technical competence, high quality standards, innovation, reliability, and customer-oriented service. Five national and international production facilities, 26 subsidiaries around the world, plus sales organisations and representatives in 120 countries translate into a truly global presence for STIEBEL ELTRON. Approximately 40 percent of the company's turnover comes from export.

The Holzminden site is the head office of the STIEBEL ELTRON Group, and also its largest production facility. Alongside the worldwide administration and sales organisation, it is also home to the production site of many millions of electrical DHW and heating appliances, as well as plants and systems that use renewables. Added to this is a further high tech factory in Eschwege,Germany which manufactures small water heaters, water boilers, hand dryers, and all the thermoplastic components required within the group. There are also three international production facilities in Poprad ,Slovakia, Ayutthaya, Thailand, and Tianjin, China. Photovoltaic modules complete the product portfolio.
