Abstract

Wind is one of the main factors influencing people's sense of comfort in urban areas. At higher temperatures and strong solar radiation, wind can be perceived as pleasantly cooling and prevents overheating of city quarters. However, at a certain strength, depending on the activity carried out, wind is perceived as unpleasant or even a hazard. Therefore, a wind climate should be aimed at that is assessed as positive and excludes hazards. This wind climate is called "wind comfort". This standard describes various methods and procedures for determining and evaluating the wind climate in built-up areas, which establish a connection between the wind climate and possible uses and can therefore serve as a guide for an evaluation.
