Abstract

The standard describes methods for determining the mechanical and physical characteristics of shape memory alloys. The tensile test is presented as the most important measuring method for the mechanical characteristic values and the special characteristics for testing shape memory alloys are pointed out. Calorimetric or bending test methods are explained to determine the conversion temperatures. A table provides information on the selection of measurement methods. Target areas for application are "quality assurance", "material testing", and "development and production".
