Technical Division Railway Technologies

Railway technology goes back a long way. It is arguable that no technical invention has had such a transforming effect on society. The modern ideas of mobility and networks were shaped by the railway. While the advent of the car seemed to have condemned the railways to a sorry decline for several decades, high-speed trains, safety and environmental advantages, and the possibility to use your time better during the trip have lately increased the train’s popularity as a means of transport.

Still, much of the technology of the rail remains deeply rooted in traditions and looks severely outdated in comparison to other transportation technologies. This Technical Division will look into these aspects and try to come up with suggestions that will help making the rail fit for the glorious future it faces.
